After 2 weeks spent in the sun, it is not always easy to find the desire to go to the office again. However, in these special times, it is essential that everyone does their part. Here are some tips for finding motivation.

MOTIVATION, OBJECTIVE AND PERFORMANCE

Let's go over the basics. Motivation is what drives you to achieve a goal (and not the reverse !). The latter plays a major role in the quest for motivation for two reasons.

First, without a goal, motivation does not exist because, without it, we don't know where to go. It's much more pleasant to take a long drive if you know you have to go through it to enjoy your vacation. Then, it is thanks to him that we reached the performance. This only depends on the objective that we have set for ourselves. It's up to us to be ambitious and believe in our abilities.

“I often use the example of swimming to illustrate this link between motivation, objective and performance. Swimming is a monotonous sport where suffering is quickly felt. However, to achieve your goal, you just have to swim straight ahead. »

Performance is personally what drives me and creates motivation in me. But there are as many solutions as there are personalities and ways of working.

INSTALL MOTIVATION AT WORK

Business is of course a different context which requires a particular method. The essential parameter to take into account is team spirit : difficult to motivate yourself when a colleague is not or works less. The first step is therefore to erect a common objective to all employees.

This is the very essence of a group: the feeling of going together in the same direction. There is something exciting about being part of a whole, doing your part so that everyone gets a reward. This feeling must be reinforced by managers, by valuing the work of all. The goal is to help the employee find their place in this group, by making their work essential to overall success. There acknowledgement is a key element of this process.

AIM BIG, BUT REASONABLE

Be careful, however, not to fall into the trap of having an overly ambitious objective. It can be tempting to aim high, since the rewards are even greater. But imposing too great a gap between current results and those hoped for can only to discourage in view of the mountain of work to be accomplished. We've all experienced the boost of January resolutions, followed by the disappointment of giving up a few weeks later. Most often it's because the goal was too big.

This does not mean, however, that we should censor our ambition. On the other hand, it is necessary to rethink your method. If the objective set requires a lot of work, it is essential to divide it into several realistic steps. This way, motivation will come from wanting to achieve the next step, not from achieving the goal as a whole. So, the latter sometimes comes without us expecting it!
