Life is not linear. Things can sometimes go wrong. How you then react to difficulties determines your level of success in life. Axel Alletru, a high-level athlete who became paraplegic following a motorcycle accident, a buggy driver who won the Paris Dakar 2020 against the able-bodied, is the example of resilience.
A charismatic speaker, Axel shares his story of success in the face of adversity and his strategies for resilience. Principles you can apply to be your best in all areas of life, no matter what goes wrong along the way.
For Axel, resilience means knowing how to bounce back after a failure. It's continuing to dream after a tragic accident. It is surpassing oneself after having achieved “success”. Being resilient means not stagnating and not settling for a mediocre life when you can swim in happiness.
During his conferences, Axel inspires the public to think bigger through his poignant testimony.
To the question what is resilience, Axel answers: “I would simply say it is the art of knowing how to navigate between torrents like a fish in water. Resilience is a bit like a wave. It's better to be the surfer who rides that wave, who bounces, rather than being the swimmer who absolutely wants to swim against the tide and who will never succeed in the end. Life is like a wave, it takes us to the right, to the left, it propels us towards unexpected things. And you have to use this wave rather than going against the tide, use this wave to bounce back, use this wave that will lead you and perhaps create new opportunities. »
His advice: “Don’t stop when times are difficult or when a difficulty comes your way. Throughout my life, I have had to face obstacles, keep moving forward despite the difficulties, keep the positive when everything is falling apart. It has a name: resilience. »
